The Roaring Twenties In America
One of the main countries involved in the beggining of the roaring twenties was indeed america, they changed laws for there states and were gone against by the U.S society.
The UpbringingThe Roaring Twenties in America was brought in, in the time of 1920's, 'the prosperity era'. the main cause of this eventful time was the banning of alcohol being manufactured, transported, or sold in the United States. This was called the The Eighteenth Amendment. people got quite frustrated with this and decided to go against it. underground secret cellars, 'speakeasies', were established and eligally sold alcoholic beverages. people would normally go to normal shops, barbers and push the wall at the back behing the counter where they would go to a secret seller and buy alcohol. these beverages were cheep and were quite popular with huge ongoing parties this was quite a smart establishment.
The ConclusionThe Roaring Twenties lasted about nine years. the down fall was known as the Great Depression. The Great Depression extended from 1929 to 1939. This period was marked by significant economic decline and massive loss of wealth for many Americans. stock markets fell and people went broke. The stock market crash of October 29, 1929, called Black Tuesday, was a major initial facilitator for the Depression. Americans collectively lost millions, as they had to owe back extreme debts from these enormous, fun, but expensive parties. Banks faced major pressure from withdrawal requests and a loss of cash inflow. The domino effect led to serious declines in employment and consumer spending that continued throughout the decade of the 1930s.

The PartiesThe parties of the prosperity era were imense, they were massive, cheap and most people were invited. these parties would mainly have the company of the rich. however the poor and the farmers were quite unhappy in this time as there was not much room for an income. the bright young things were young aristocrats and socialites who threw these fancy dress parties, went on elaborate treasure hunts and were seen in all the trendy venues. this era was also known as 'a decade long party'.

New York
“The Roaring Twenties began with Prohibition and ended with the stock market crash. In the years between, New York experienced an unparalleled revolution in ways of life, language, and music.” Jazz arrived in New York in the 1920s & caused a riot. The Harlem transformed from a peaceful village on the outskirts of New York City into “America’s black Paris.” A typical wander through New York's Upper West Side in 1929 would have left the pedestrian virtually deaf, assailed by the blasts of street construction and traffic horns. Having managed to escape these with their hearing intact, the aural assault was pretty endless: booming radios, metal-clanging garbage collectors, noisy boys, quarreling neighbors, and, yes, howling cats. |
